Signature the bottle is signed on the top lip. Getting a clear picture of this signature was extremely difficult, but as you can see most of it is htere in spite of the bevel on the top rim. Pattern name and reference this is a mystery pattern that has not been idenitfied yet. A bowl signed egginton that is cut similarly can be seen in figure c311 of reflections on american brliliant cut glass by boggess. Age this piece was probably made in the very aerly 1900's. Black light test results confirms american brilliant period (approximately 1876-1916). Measurements 5 high and 2-7/8 wide. Weight 1.2 pounds. Blank / glass clarity teh bottle is blown.
Both pieces of glass are bright and clear. Cutting details hte main miters have good depth and the overall precision is very good. The clear diagonal bars are a nice addition and the hobstar bottom is great. Polishing quality the finish looks and feels very crisp.
Condition report (always very picky) the stopper fits tightly and sits at what i would consider an appropriate level. There are no scribed numbers present. On the faceted part of the stopper is a pencil point sized mark that looks like it could have been a trapped bubble that was exposed by the cutting process. Otherwise after looking closely i spotted a pinpoint sized nick and same sized bruise also no the facets. The stopper plug looks great.
On the top rim and around the hole are a few tiny pinpoint sized nicks. Hiding underneath the rim is a shallow flake that is only 1/16 in size. On the side pattern area are 2 more flakes that are about this same small size and some scattered pencil point or less sized nicks, but nothing of any rael noticeable size at all. The bottom is ni great shape and shows minimal wear.
The interior is clean with no sickness or residue. Please remember taht my condition reports are far pickier than most and the typical person will consider this piece to be in good to very good shape considering its age. Final comments this is definitely one of the finest cologne bottles htat i have had the pleasure to offer. It has an interesting cutting pattern and great overall quality.
I doubt that you can find a cologne for sale that is much better than this one. Bidding format there is no reserve with a $9 starting price. This is ym favorite way to sell even high-priced items.
